ATHENA Award® Nominees Announced
ATHENA Award luncheon scheduled for December 7
Ten Dutchess County business persons representing marketing, medicine, disaster relief, education, public health, tourism, and the arts have been selected as honorees for the 2008 ATHENA Award.
The ATHENA Award, first presented in 1982 in Lansing, Michigan, recognizes those who have achieved excellence in their business or profession, served the community in a meaningful way and assisted women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills.
The recipient of our local 2008 ATHENA Award will be announced at a Brunch recognizing all of our honorees at noon on December 7th at The Grandview in the City of Poughkeepsie. Last year’s recipient Susan Lafosse will be our Honorary Chair for the event. In addition, the ATHENA Scholarship recipient will be awarded at the Brunch. Proceeds from this event fund the ATHENA and other scholarship programs of the Chamber’s Foundation. The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which is the philanthropic and educational arm of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, recognize the importance of honoring those who champion the promotion of women into the leadership of our businesses, communities and government. It is in keeping with this mission that the Chamber and its Foundation are acting as host to the ATHENA Award program.
